Gennie Joy Clarinet & Bass Clarinet

Gennie is a freelance clarinettist and bass clarinettist who has performed at venues such as the Wigmore Hall, Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, Kings Place, the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, St John's Smith Square and Camp Bestival. In January 2015 she was appointed as Principal Bass Clarinet of the Orchestra of the City; she has also played with the New London Chamber Ensemble, Vanbrugh Ensemble, Corinthian Chamber Orchestra, Blaze Ensemble, University of London Symphony Orchestra, London Graduate Orchestra, London Repertoire Orchestra, Lambeth Orchestra, Ernest Read Symphony Orchestra, Arioso Orchestra, City of London Symphonic Winds, The Collaborative Orchestra, Fulham Opera, Orchestra Vitae, Blackheath Halls Orchestra, Morley Chamber Orchestra, Docklands Sinfonia, Amati Orchestra and South East Youth Symphony Orchestra.

A passionate chamber musician, Gennie is the bass clarinettist in Engines Orchestra, who have recorded their debut album Lifecycles which was launched in November 2014 at the London Jazz Festival, as well as performing at venues including Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club and the Scarborough Jazz Festival. Gennie also played bass clarinet in the seven piece band A'ime, active in 2013, performing at such venues as Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, Bermondsey Antiques market, and The Roxy Bar and Screen, Borough.
